Frequently Asked Questions

Coffee can get real extra real fast. We don’t do all that. This page keeps things simple so anyone — whether it’s your first bag of specialty coffee or your fiftieth — can brew a great cup at home without gear, jargon, or guesswork. Just the basics, done right.

  • Specialty coffee simply means the beans meet a higher quality standard. They’re graded by certified tasters and anything scoring 80+ points qualifies. That score reflects sweetness, cleanliness, flavor clarity, and farming/processing quality.

In short: the beans were grown, handled, and roasted with real care — and you taste the difference.

  • Grocery-store coffee is built for volume — older beans, darker roasting to hide flaws, and blends pulled from multiple places.
Specialty coffee is built for taste — fresher beans, intentional roasting, and full traceability from farm to cup.

Think bakery bread vs. factory bread. Same idea, different level of care.

  • Use this as your quick guide:

    • Drip Machine: Medium

    • Pour Over: Medium-fine

    • French Press: Coarse

    • Espresso: Fine

If you’re unsure, start with medium — it works with most brewers. Grinding right before brewing boosts flavor, but use whatever setup you have.

  • Simple method:

    • 1–2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water

    More precise method:

    • 10 grams of coffee per 6 oz water

    • Water temp: 195–205°F

    • Filtered water helps flavor and consistency

No need to stress ratios — consistency matters more than perfection.

  • Best practices:

    • Keep coffee sealed in the original airtight bag

    • Store in a cool, dry spot

    • Avoid heat, sunlight, and moisture

    • Don’t refrigerate or freeze, unless storing long-term

Coffee stays at peak flavor for 3–4 weeks after opening.

  • It means your coffee comes from one specific region or farm — not a blend.
    Why it matters:

    • Traceability

    • Cleaner, more distinct flavor

    • True expression of the place the coffee was grown

It’s like knowing the vineyard behind your wine.

  • Definitely. We roast with everyday people in mind — not coffee collectors.
Smooth, balanced, and easy to brew at home.

    • Brew the way you actually like it — no “right” or “wrong”
